Privacy Policy
Effective date: April 16, 2026
GovLens ("we," "us," or "our") operates govlens.co. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using GovLens, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We may also collect your company name and NAICS codes if you provide them.
Usage data: We automatically collect information about how you interact with the service, including pages visited, features used, search queries submitted, and timestamps. This data is collected in aggregate and may be tied to your account.
Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies and local storage to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. We may also use analytics cookies to understand site traffic and user behavior.
Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card number. We receive limited billing information (last four digits, card type, billing address) from Stripe for record-keeping.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the GovLens service
- To send you contract match alerts and product updates (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- To process payments and manage your subscription
- To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
- To analyze aggregate usage trends and improve the product
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
We share data with the following third-party services as necessary to operate GovLens:
- Cloudflare — CDN, DDoS protection, and DNS. Cloudflare processes network traffic to deliver the site and may log IP addresses and request metadata.
- Stripe — Payment processing for paid subscriptions. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle payment data.
- Google LLC — Google Analytics (GA4) — We use Google Analytics 4 (property ID G-HJVHDEPXCL) to measure site performance and user engagement. By default, analytics_storage is set to 'granted' in public/analytics.js, which means analytics collection occurs without prior consent. GA4 collects data including anonymized IP addresses, device information (browser type, operating system), usage patterns (pages visited, time on site), and interaction data. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by managing your cookie settings in your browser.
We require all third-party processors to handle your data in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or tax purposes.
Aggregate analytics data that cannot be linked to an individual may be retained indefinitely.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable law:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability: Receive your data in a portable format.
- Opt-out of sale: We do not sell personal data. California residents can confirm this by contacting us.
- Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@govlens.co. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS, password hashing, and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data.
7. Children's Privacy
GovLens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will promptly delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of GovLens after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
